MaST is pleased to offer the AP Capstone program at Sarasota High School. Students who pass both the AP Seminar and AP Research exams are awarded the AP Capstone certificate, which along with the 6 college credits they earn, provides them the same status as AP Scholars.

AP Seminar is an interdisciplinary course that encourages students to demonstrate critical thinking, collaboration, and academic research skills on topics of the student’s choosing. To accommodate the wide range of student topics, typical college course equivalents include interdisciplinary or general elective courses.

In the MaST program, the course is tailored with a STEM focus with students gaining knowledge needed to complete advanced literature searches, write effectively, and communicate their findings.

Exam Dates:
May 1st - All digital portfolio submissions due to the college board. Parts due at discretion of teacher.
The components submitted to the digital portfolio are papers and presentations of both a team and individual research project.

To accommodate the wide range of student topics, typical college course equivalents include introductory research or general elective courses.

In the MaST program, AP Research centers around students' junior year research projects.

May 1st - All digital portfolio submissions due to the college board. Parts due at discretion of teacher.
The components submitted to the digital portfolio are a 4000-5000 word paper and oral defense of an individual research project.
